You may have heard there is a small Champions League game going on in North East Spain on Tuesday where 90,000 Catalonians will be expecting to see their side overcome a 2-1 deficit against Arsenal. I will take a look at the game and point you in the direction of some money making opportunities.
Barcelona are best priced 1/3, the draw 11/2 and Arsenal 8/1. There is no value in betting on a Barcelona win, and all things considered, you won’t catch me betting on any other result. Don’t be too fooled by the comeback of Arsenal 2 weeks ago, the Nou Camp will provide a totally different kettle of fish for Arsenal and any early Barcelona goal could open the flood gates. Last season Messi destroyed Arsenal with a first half hat-trick and the 2nd half could have made the final result a lot more than 4-1. Teams this season have been going to the Nou Camp and playing 6 at the back with 2 holding players, they still average 2.89 goals per game. Arsenal won’t be playing that way and their counter-attack could be flawed without the rapid Theo Walcott providing the outlet ball option.
Arsene Wenger could have played the ultimate bluff by declaring Fabregas and Van Persie injured for the game, don’t be surprised to see one, if not both of them in the starting line up. It must be noted that both of these also missed out 12 months ago where Arsenal didn’t get a sniff. The inclusion of them 2 could mean Arsenal get the away goal but Barcelona score when they want at home, no matter who the opponents are. Remember when Real Madrid went there and dared to go and attack? They got a 5-0 hiding and to be honest, it could have been 10.
The obvious bets to look at for this are the goals markets or the handicap. Barcelona are available at 15/8 on the -2 handicap, which is a decent bet, especially if they do get an early goal and Arsenal have to go on the offensive.
Over 3.5 goals is available at 11/10 and with both defences by no means bullet proof, this could be the best bet of the night.
If you believe in lightening striking twice, Messi to score first and Barcelona to win 4-1 is available at 35/1, and a Messi hat-trick 16/1 with William Hill.
